Welcome to the Deniliquin South Library
The Library is the information hub of the school, where students can access a variety of resources to assist with their learning. The Library has an extensive range of books and resources that are regularly updated so that the collection remains current. Each week all classes visit the Library for a scheduled lesson with the Library teacher.
Library Staff
Mrs Julie Selleck is our Teacher/Librarian and Ms Christine Fennessey is our Library Clerical Assistant.
Parent Information
If your child is in a Kinder, grade 1 or grade 2 class, they must have a Library bag in order to borrow books.
Library Opening Times
The Library is open at lunchtimes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:10pm to 1:30pm. This time provides students with a quiet, relaxing space to enjoy reading, board games, free time on the computers, and craft activities run by our Library Ministers. The Library will also be open at break times during periods of very hot or wet weather (advised on the day by school staff).
Students are able to borrow and return books during their Library lessons. They are also able to return books in the morning before school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Special Events in the Library
Each year the Library celebrates the Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week. During this time, special activities are planned such as the book fair, the dress up parade, art activities and possibly an author visit / performance.
Other Library events include the National Simultaneous Story-time, and the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge, which Deni South students have been participating in for a number of years. Information about Library events will be put in the school newsletter and on the school Facebook site.
